Great turnout for Bonnie's Stained Glass quilting class yesterday at the Piecemakers. There are a lot of activities going on right now. Tuesday evening the Seymour Library is presenting a program about quilting. The Seymour Quilt Club will participate with a showing of quilts. The library will show a film of older quilting techniques. We have several upcoming outings available for the members. Kathie is going to check into the use of the center's van for a trip to the Asheville NC quilt show. There is a 3 day retreat at Norma Dan's in September and the fee is due this month. It is a Day retreat, but there are rooms available for those who wish to stay over. Dollywood had contacted Kathie about manning the quilt display space for the Harvest Festival. That is still being discussed by both guilds at this time.
We now have an inventory list of our Library material that is available to all members. There is a wide variety of books for all facets of quilting for loan to our members.
As I get more familiar with how this blogging works, I will add photos and other items for all to see and share.

Guild Meeting - Charity Quilting Day
Hello!!
We were discussing after our regular guild meeting the newsletter, websites, blogs, etc. I am giving the "blog" idea a whirl to see how the members like it. I intend to include our weekly activities and information regarding our upcoming events as well as what we do and who we reach out to. I have also included the Piecemakers' photos from the regular monthly newsletter on a Pinterest Board "Piecemakers Quilt Guild".
The last Monday of each month we all pitch in to work on our "Charity Quilts". There was a lot of activity with sewing machines humming and groups working on quilt tops. Susie gave a report today regarding the number of charity quilts we did for 2012. Forty-eight quilts were donated to Safe Space and 19 others were donated to other organizations to assist with their fundraising efforts. We have 30+ quilts completed for 2013.
Bonnie Goolsby gave a mini class today on making bias tape. She will be conducting a class for a stained glass block next week (August 5) and the bias tape can be used for that block instead of the ready-made outlining tape. She passed out patterns and fabric requirements today.
Show and Tell included a beautiful quilt made by Debbie Bobis from a Judy Niemeyer paper piecing pattern. Debbie also showed the double wedding ring quilt made for Brian (Pigeon Forge Special Events) who is to be married soon.
Carol Huntley and Barbara Kalter are recovering from surgeries and we were encouraged to send some cards and keep them in our thoughts. Butch Helton's (Special Events Manager for Pigeon Forge) mother passed away over the weekend. We do not have funeral arrangements at this time.
More info to come....
